modal interference due to internal waves

Modal evolution due to internal waves

Acoustic ray-mode simulations are used to explain strong intensity fluctuations of individual modes before and during the internal wave packet passing on an L-shape array during the SW06 experiment. Modal decomposition is used at the vertical array to identify acoustic modes.

azimuthal dependence

Study of the azimuthal and temporal sound fluctuations

A 20-dB energy change of acoustic signals in the frequency band 700–1100 Hz occurring along two shallow-water tracks from a common source is correlated with the occurrence of an oceanographic event in the top 150-m water column due to a Pacific Water outflow from the Bering Sea and retreat of the Marginal Ice Zone.
