4.  Configure the client software and your account information

The setup for SecureW2 is as follows:

  • To edit your default configuration, click Configure. You will see a window asking for an outer identity. The outer identity should remain as anonymous for old versions (3.12 and below). New versions (newer than 3.12) it is recommended to either "specify outer identity" as "anonymous" OR un-check the "Use Alternate Outer Identity" box. The next picture shows the correct configuration for old versions:
  • Click on the certificates tab and it will automatically show you the certificate you installed before
Note: recent windows updates will require you to click the Add CA button and look for the EECIS Staff certificate and manually add it to the list.
  • Mark the Verify server certificate and click on the certificate (if there are more than one):
  • Double check under the Authentication tab, that the authentication method is set to PAP:
  • You can either provide login information each time your computer gets connected to the network, or save it to your computer so you do not need to type it in every time.
For the first case, check the box Prompt user for credentials under the User Account tab:
For the second case, uncheck the box and fill your Unix information in. Leave the domain field empty:

Note:

  • A message can appear to process the certificates, install all of them and click ok. (In this case the network you are connecting to is acad, which depends on the network you are able to be connected to)
  • This message appears if you didn't provide your account login and password:
  • Or, this message appears if your login and password is filled in with the UNIX login and password (and Domain empty):

5.  Test your connection

  • Open Firefox or Internet Explorer and see if you can access the internet. Use the Help Request System if you have trouble.
