Obtaining Help

The Help Request System is available for faculty, staff, students, and other users of our network to obtain help with computer problems, network issues, and general suggestions to our staff.

Disclaimer

During business hours, a response to "problem" tickets will be sent within 1hr. A response to problem tickets during non-business hours will be given within 4hrs, BUT if no response is given during that period, the sender should assume that the ticket will not see service until the next start-of-business. Problem tickets are those to report a failure of something that was previously working, and is no longer working in that previous fashion.

Note from your department chairs:

Our staff maintains a high level of uptime, including during evenings and weekends. Their time to solve problems on off hours is offered on a strictly voluntary basis, out of their pride and dedication to our systems. However there will be times when none of the staff is available for immediate response to a problem. The combination of low frequency of off hours failures, size of our staff, and cost do not justify having a staff member on call at all times. Off hours responses are performed on an "as available" basis. The response policy stated above is designed to allow you to rationally work around outages. If the service request system itself is down or in other extreme cases, contact your department chair or associate chair.

I can no longer print to the cis4 printer. I followed the instructions given at:

https://www.eecis.udel.edu/wiki/ececis-docs/index.php/FAQ/Printing#toc11

Strangely enough, I don't get an error message. The print job goes through and shows up as having being successfully completed. However, nothing shows up at the printer.

Earlier I used to print using samba, but as you mention in the FAQ, the samba server has been disabled since July 16. I haven't tried to print between July 16 and now.

I am running Mac OS X 10.5.4 w/ all the latest updates. The CUPS version is 1.3.6. I am connected to the acad network in Smith Hall.

Thanks, Sachin.
