Wireless-MacOS-Lion

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion RADIUS CLIENT CONFIGURATION

Setting up a Lion client to get access to the network:

Installing the Wireless Configuration File

1. Download the wireless configuration file for the ACAD and ECECIS-RES wireless networks.

  • Found Here: acad-ececis-wifi.tar
  • After you download the file, extract the contents (you should see a file named acad-ececis-wifi.mobileconfig)

2. Open acad-ececis-wifi.mobileconfig.

  • You should be prompted with an installation message. Select 'Continue' to continue.
  • You will be prompted with another installation message. Select 'Continue' to continue.

3. You will be prompted to enter your username and password to access each of the Wi-Fi network settings that are being installed.

  • After you have entered this information click 'Next' and then 'Install'
  • Note: This is an optional step. If you would rather not store this information on your machine, just click 'Next' / 'Install' to continue.
  • If you choose to not enter this information, you will be prompted to enter it when you attempt to establish a connection to the network (see Step 6).

4. You should now see a screen that resembles the following:

Connect to the network

1. Click on the wireless icon and select the network you would like to connect to (e.g., acad, ECECIS-RES).

2. If you decided not to enter your username / password during Step 3, you will be prompted with a screen to enter your username and password. Enter this information and click 'OK' to continue.

  • Note: If you entered this information during Step 3 and were still prompted, this may be due to the wrong information being entered during the install. To correct this, see the section below on Re/Un-installing the Wireless Configuration File.

3. Select the wireless menu again to verify that the connection has been established.

  • The checkmark next to the network means that you are connected.
  • Open Firefox or Safari and see if you can access the internet. Use the Help Request System if you have any trouble.

Un/Re-installing the Wireless Configuration File

1. If you need to uninstall the Wireless Configuration Profile, you will need to select the profile and manually uninstall it.

  • In order to re-install the profile, just follow the 'Installing the Wireless Configuration Profile' procedure (if you still have the acad-ececis-wifi.mobileconfig file, start at Step 2; otherwise, start from Step 1).
  • Select 'Profile' under your System Preferences (circled below).

2. You will be taken to your 'Profile' preferences. Select 'ECECIS Wireless Configuration' from the list of Profiles and then click on the "-" at the bottom-left of the window.

3. You will be prompted with a dialog regarding the removal of the profile. Click 'Remove' to completely uninstall the profile.

  • Note: Only do this if you don't plan on connecting to the ACAD / ECECIS-RES wireless network. You need this profile to connect!

4. You have now removed the wireless configuration profile.

  • If you need to connect to the ACAD / ECECIS-RES wireless network in the future you will need to re-install this profile.
