Computational X-Ray Tomography Laboratory



The experimental X-ray tomography system supports demonstrations for computational X-ray imaging for different geometries and monochrome and spectral modalities. The spectral capabilities are being con- structed currently. The instrumentation is housed in a shielded and safety approved room environment. The laboratory will include:

  • 130kV microfocus X-Ray source.
  • Flat panel detector - 43x43 cm and 100 um pixel pitch
  • Sample control and manipulation in X, Y and a rotation stage for the sample

Advanced Material Characterization Laboratory - CT Scanner Facility



The Patrick T. Harker Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory’s Advanced Materials Characterization Lab (AMCL) at the University of Delaware hosts two advanced Rigaku X-ray computed tomography imaging systems. The nano 3DX and CT Lab GX 130 instruments from Rigaku which address a wide range of applications in both materials and life sciences. Both instruments are located in an open-access laboratory providing non-destructive 3D X-ray computed tomography (CT) and high-performance image analysis services to the general UD user community. The Rigaku CT Lab GS 130 has been equipped with special holders to allow for coded apertures and filters for multiple energy X-rays. An overview of the equipment:

  • Data acquisition computer: Dual Xeon processor, 128 GB RAM, Nvidia GPU, 2 TB disk drive, 24 monitor, Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit, nano3DX data collection and CT reconstruction software.
