Facial Image Analysis
People: Gayathri Mahalingam, Xiaolong Wang and Chandra Kambhamettu
We study two problems under the domain of facial image analysis. First, face recognition, where a subject is matched to an identity from a large pre-collected dataset of known people. Second, face verification, where only a pair of images are available and we must answer the question of "do the facial images in the pair belong to the same person?". There are various challenges associated with each of the above due to variations in environment, changes in subject appearance and aging effects.
