3D Digitizer for Orthosis Development

1. Robot arms have been previously used as a 3D digitizer for developing customized ankle foot orthoses.

2. Dr. Jingyi Yu and Dr. Steven Stanhope work with graduate student Alex Razzook to use the Google Glass as a 3D digitizer for orthosis development.

3. Yu's team has developed specialized computer vision software to recover the 3D ankle-foot model from the image/video data acquired by the Google Glass.

4. The recovered 3D model is then used to design customized orthoses.

5. Using 3D printing technology, the customized orthoses can be quickly manufactured for testing.

6. Dr. Yu evaluates the quality of orthoses with student Alex Razzook.
