Meet in room 104 Pearson Hall at 9:00 AM, Sat, Nov 6, 1999.

for breakfast (courtesy of IBM). Sign in absolutely no later than 9:45.
The way will be clearly marked by signs "ACM ==>" from the corner of South College Ave and Delaware Ave. If you find a door to Pearson Hall locked, try other doors. The building will be open.

Schedule, Saturday, November 6, 1999
- 9:00 - 10:00: Breakfast in room 104 Pearson Hall.
- 9:45 - 10:00: Orientation in room 104. (Receive t-shirts and free software)
- 10:00 - 10:45: Registration and practice on system in rooms 114,115.
- 10:45 - 11:00 Review of rules in room 104.
- 11:00 - 12:00 lunch in room 113. (machines are unavailable during this period - account directories are cleared)
- 12:00 - 5:00 contest
- 5:00 - Dinner and announcement of winners around 6:00, prize awarded to top team at the site.

This will be the programming environment:
- Hardware (one per team): Xterm or PC running X windows emulator to a Sun Sparc server.
- Operating System: Sun Microsystems, Inc. SunOS 5.7 (Solaris)
- Compilers: g++, gcc, java (JDK 1.1.7)
- Debugger: dbx, gdb
- Editors: vi, emacs, pine (pico)
- Unix basics: ls, cp, lpr, rm, mv, etc.
- Contest registration/submission system.
- Forbidden:
  Code construction tools (lex, yacc, scheme-to-c, etc.)
  Calls to libraries that require explicit mention on the compile command line (except that the judges will put "-lm" on the compile command line).
- Allowed:
  #include and use of automatically loaded standard library functions.
