Reading: Shor's Paper (Postscript) (PDF) sections 1, 2, 3, and 7

Questions:
Answers due May 8. 1.Explain why quantum computers need to be reversible.  Why is it that classical computers are not reversible? 

2.The Toffoli gate was discussed in class as being a universal quantum gate.  Is this the only example of such a gate?

3.Explain the implications of precision in terms of the power of a quantum computer.

4.Imagine a 5 qubit register in an equal superposition of all possible values. Write the state of the register. 

5.What happens when we take a measurement of the above register?  Write a possible state after measurement.
