Front matter, Chapters 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10.12,14,15,16,21.
Read Appendix 25.1 - 25.3 for terminology of rings, fields, polynomials.
Read through front matter (incl chapter 1),
Read chapters 2 and 3.(to about pg 60).
Look over the chapter 2 exercises. Come to class prepared for the following
kinds of activities:

Someone who has a solution in mind and/or on paper presents it to us.

Negotiate an assignment of one of them for presentation Mon, Sept 10
(with your input on which you'd like to get. "No, no, please not this one."
"Oh, yes, yes! I want to do that one.").

Give input on which one or two should become part of a written assignment.
I am specifically interested in these exercises:
2.2, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.9(i), 2.9(ii), 2.10(i), 2.10(iii), 2.11
Be prepared to prove a part of Lemma 3.8 in class.
Each person will get a part at random to present to the class.
