Subject: Are you looking for a summer job?

Dear Computer Science, Math, Physics & Computer Engineering Majors,

If you are not graduating by August 1999 and are interested in finding a summer job utilizing your academic background, the Career Services Center can help you. This will be the 5th year of our Summer Jobs in Technology Program. Last year 27 organizations asked us to refer resumes to them for review in filling their summer positions. To date 5 companies have asked for resumes to be mailed to them as soon as possible.

If you are interested in participating in the Summer Jobs Program, please bring a copy of your resume on plain white paper (it scans the best) to me, Lynn Jacobson, on the second floor of the Career Services Center by December 22, 1998. Resumes will be accepted after this date, but after January 4, 1999we will begin mailing the resumes to organizations that have requested them thus far. Once we have mailed the resumes, the company will contact you directly to arrange an interview. Some will hold interviews at the Career Services Center, others will have you come directly to their offices.

If you want to participate in this program, but have not yet written your resume the Career Services Center offers workshops and handouts on resume writing. You can also make an appointment for an individual resume critique as long as you have at least a rough draft of your resume by calling 831-2392. Check out the workshop calendar and other information at www.udel.edu/CSC/career.html and ...students.html. Also put your resume on the WWW by clicking on "resume Builder for the WWW" under the "Developing Job Skills" or "Find a Job" sections at www.udel.edu/CSC/students.html.

If you have 3.0+gpa, you can apply for the 1999 Dow Jones Technology Intern Program. Minimum salary $15 per hour and a $1000 scholarship. Application forms are available from my office or www.dowjones.com/careers. Application deadline is January 29, 1999.

The Summer Jobs in Technology Program is just one method you can explore for gaining valuable experience before you graduate. Additional information on locating a summer job is available in the Career Resource Center and at www.udel.edu/CSC/summerjobs.html.

Good luck with your summer job search!
Lynn Jacobson
