CISC 615/CPEG 615 Software Testing and Maintenance - Spring 2012

Surveys

Learning Objectives:

To become aware of and appreciate the current challenges and open research problems in Testing and maintenance

Literature Surveys

As a whole class, we will all contribute to creating a thorough literature review of the research in software testing and maintenance over the past 5 years.

The Steps:

  • Choose a partner or work by yourself.
  • Each group choose 1 to 2 sets of conferences until all conference choices are filled, and sign up on the course Google doc.
  • Create a Mendeley account and download Mendeley from their online web site.
  • Phase 1: Read titles and abstracts (possibly intros and conclusions) of papers in testing/maintenance in the conference series you chose.
  • For each paper: Add a document to the Mendeley folder as appropriate, either Testing or Maintenance folder shared by the instructor. Be sure to add tag words and a brief (1-2 sentence) description of the paper's main contributions in the notes section for that Mendeley document. You need NOT upload the pdf, just web import the page from the digital library that has the pdf link and information on it. This should automatically fill in the author, title, etc information into your Mendeley document. Put your initials and month/day you added the document in parentheses at the top of the notes section.
  • As you complete review of a proceedings, mark it with an in front of your name in the google doc.
  • Phase 2: Categorizing and summarizing the big picture. Process TBA.

    Grading Criteria:

    • Coverage of Literature
    • Accuracy of Categorization/Organization
    • Quality of Summarizations
    • Quantity/Quality of Critiques
    • Individual participation/contribution
