CISC 879
Quest Preparation Guide

Purpose:
The primary purpose of the 2 quests is to assess your understanding of the problems, approaches, contributions, and limitations of the research projects we have read about and discussed in class. The second purpose is to encourage you to critically analyze and summarize the important contributions and establish a perspective of the state of the art in addressing the challenging problems for software testing and maintenance.

Suggestions on How to Prepare:
Reread your PDP forms, the class slides, and the paper abstract, introduction, and conclusions for each paper to refamiliarize yourself with each of the papers' problems, approaches, contributions, and limitations. If you want, rescan over the papers themselves for more details, but assessment of retention of minor details is not a goal of the quests.
Discuss the papers with a colleague or group of colleagues in the course to remind yourself of the concerns and interesting points of the papers.
Stand back (not literally!) from the set of papers and think about the more global problems and the state of the art as seen through the papers we have seen so far.

Dates:
Quest 1: Thursday, March 18, in class.
Quest 2: Thursday, May 6, in class.

Quest 1 Coverage: The papers read/presented up to and including 3/16.
Quest 2 Coverage: The papers read/presented after 3/18 and before 5/6.

Format: Short answer, essay, maybe some matching or fill in the blank! Each quest will be designed to take about 30 minutes. You will have the full class period to work on the quest if you want. Or, you can leave early that day!
