ELEG 309 Exam 2. Opinions

I thought it was a little on the lengthy side. As far as content...
great... I studied the homework-related material, and just as you said,
that did prepare me for the test. But, it took a while. For example,
problem 2 was a bit silly. It was really just busy work to solve all of
those transistor problems... and I didn't feel like i was doing anythign
new in any of them. Everything else was ok, though, I think.
--------------------------
Once again, I thought the test was fair in that it
covered everything we did in the lectures and homework but it was a tad long. Last
exam, quite a few people had finished with time to spare and to check their
answers so they left early. But for this one it seemed everyone stayed until the
very last minute struggling to finish. Well, not struggling, but... you get the
picture. When there is as much calculation going on as there were for some of the
problems, in particular Number 2, having some time to check your answers is really
beneficial.
----------------------------
I thought that the test was fair but I could have used a little more time.
---------------------------
Once again I thought that the exam was quite reasonable in that it modeled
the problems throughout the homeworks rather well.
--------------------------
I feel the test was fair, but long.
I had enough time to write out the equation for Rin, for example, but not enough
time to calculate the numerical anwser.  I am hoping the numerical answer will not
be weighted heavily as long as the equation was set up correctly.
---------------------------
I thought the exam was quite fair, the only thing would be the time
constraint.  I don't know if I needed more time to think, but I know I
needed more time two write. I think maybe an extra 20 to 30 minutes would
have been more than enough extra time to let my hand catch up with my
thoughts :).
---------------------------
I thought the test was pretty comprehensive as far as
relating it to the homework, but even then, there were too many parts to complete
in the alotted amount of time.

thats why many students didn't have a chance to complete the exam,
------------------------------
The test wasn't too hard, straight from the homework.  The test did seem
alittle too long.
------------------------------
Too long.  You get algebra problems in one loop
equation, and before you know it, there is no time left.
-------------------------------
Well here are my comments...I am sure they will go along with the party
line of the class:

Again, this exam was fair.  What differentiated this test from the
previous one was its length.  I found myself rushing at the end to make it
to all the problems, and I was unable to go back and check my answers for
computational errors.  Take away problem #2 or parts of it and the length
would be fine (granted it was a relatively simple problem...but each
portion required computation which takes time regardless how easy the
problem is conceptually).
---------------------
Speaking as someone who spent all day yesterday to study
for the exam, I left the exam highly disturbed.  The exam was one to long for the
time given to complete it.  I like having a chance to chose different problems
like the last exam.  From the grade I will probably get on the exam it will
probably look as if I did not learn anything this chapter.  Which is not true.  I
beleive this exam was not fair in a full coverage of the entire chapter, or in
given me a chance to prove that i have learned anything.
-----------------------
I though the level of difficulty of the test was fair.  However, it was a
bit long.  If you picked the wrong approach for one problem, there wasn't
sufficient time to correct oneself.  I believe i picked the right approach
initially for each problem,  i was only done with five minutes to spare in
the class.
-----------------------
Again I found the exam to be a little too long. Problem 2 was especially
time consuming for me.
-----------------------
i think that the test was too long and hard. I have
talked to a lot of people about the test and none of them were able to finish the
test completely. Something has to be done about it
----------------------------
I thought the test was very fair as to content. I thought problem
two could have been merely two or three of the sections in order to test
our appropriate knowlege. This kept us from giving appropriate time to the
more dificult problems. This problem wasnt difficult but it did take up
time. other wise it was appropriate.
--------------------------
I thought the test questions were very fair; but I also feel that there
was not enough time granted to complete the test.
-------------------------
I felt the questions on the test were very fair.  I
actually felt very prepared for this exam.  However, time was a big issue.  If I
had had two hours I probably could have done the entire test without too much of a
problem, but we only have an hour and fifteen minutes.  For example the second
question I think could have been shortened to two or three parts.  There seemed to
be a lot of repitition in that question that just took a while to do.    Overall I
was happy with the questions asked though.  The only problem I think was the time
constraints.
------------------------------
I thought the exam was very fair in content but not in
length.  I was well prepared and felt confident that I
could answer all of the questions after seeing them but I DID NOT have enough time
to finish them.  The question with 5 circuits was easy but very time consuming and i think it just too
much work for amount of time we were given.  I would have liked if we had the option to omit one of the
questions so that we could spend more time focusing on just 4 instead of rushing through, realizing
that your answer doesn't make sense but not having the time to go back and figure out why and correct it.
I know the curve will reflect the class's difficulty with the length but I think it would be nice to
actually earn an honest grade (NOT CURVED SO THAT A 30 IS A C) above 60 once in a while!!
