ELEG 867 Nanotechnology
Homework #6 - due Wednesday, 31 October 2001

1. It is the year 2011, and the course ELEG 867 on Nanotechnology has given you the confidence to become the CEO of a start-up Company that manufacturers a particular nanotech product.  You have based the design and manufacture of your product on the article, “It's a small, small, small, small world,“ by Ralph C. Merkle, that is linked below on the web page:

Read and study this paper.  (note: “carbene” refers to CH2 , and related compounds).

2.  Based on this paper, submit your Company’s first annual report, describing your nanotech product, its function and structure, the nano-fabrication process to produce it, and the expected sales market.  Show drawings of the product and the production equipment.  Justify the design, and give as many dimensions and features as necessary to support your claims.  How much floor space does your factory require; a large plant or a small office?  How will customers use it, and how many do you sell per month?  What are the production cost and the selling price, your annual sales and profit?

Please keep the length of your report under 5 pages. It will be graded on details and explanation, and not the length (2 or 3 pages is fine).

For proper credit, you must include the course number, assignment number, and due date on your submission.
