ELEG 667–016; MSEG-667-016 - Solid State Nanoelectronics – Fall 2004
Homework #7 - due Tuesday, 30 November 2004, in class

1. Structure of carbon nanotubes:
a.) Sketch armchair, chiral, and zig-zag structures of CNTs. Describe the chiral vector for each.
b.) Describe the structural properties necessary for semiconducting CNTs.

2. Field effect transistors utilizing carbon nanotubes:
a.) Sketch the cross-section of a bottom gate CNT FET.
b.) For ambivalent CNTs, when would you expect to see light emission from a bottom gate CNT FET?
