II.1. Start here first - subsequently, start Section II.2, below.
(a) From the top EE650 directory, invoke Cadence by typing:
layoutPlus &
(hint: be patient). A rectangular window should appear.
Position the
mouse cursor into this window and its color should lighten.
(b) When the menu bar appears, hold down the LEFT (L) mouse button
on
"Design Manager", and release on "Library Browser..."
(c) In the "Library Browser" window,
with the MIDDLE (M) mouse button,
hold on "EE650" and release on
"Properties..."
(d) Also from the "Library Browser" window,
with the MIDDLE (M) mouse
button, hold on "EE650" and release on
"Change owner ..."
In the owner
window, change from "rommel" to your user name.
(e) In the "Properties" form window,
scroll down until you see a
"dmiFilepath" box.
Edit this entry to list your path - for example:
/m/eeug/"yourname"/EE650/EE650.lib
or, instead it may need to be:
/m/eeuc/"yourname"/EE650/EE650.lib
To check on your path, from an Xwindow type either "pwd",
or else type
"cd", then "cd .."
the response should indicate the path (e.g. /m/eeug/ ).
Click on "OK" with L to close the window
Hints: you may need to move the "Properties" window to be able to
use the
scroll bar - do this by clicking on a blank region of your
Xwindows screen
and use the "Move" command.
You may need to experiment with the path;
Type
in your own name, not the word "username".
(f) in the "layoutPlus" window
with L, choose "Open" -- "Quit"
(see
Section II.(f) below).
Restart Cadence, and your path should be set up
properly.
II.2. Entering the file library
(a) Invoke Cadence as in II.1(b).
(b) When the menu bar appears, click on "Design Manager" with L,
and
release on "Library Browser"
(c) In the "Library Browser" window, when the
"EE650" appears, click on
it with L.
(d) When the file names appear,
click on "scratch" with L.
(e) When "layout" appears, hold down on it with M and release on
"Edit".
This opens an "Editing" window containing a blank space with
grid points on
one micrometer spacings; and it opens an "LSW" window
containing a table of
layers of different substances.
II.3. Experimenting with layouts. Example: making an oxide region.
(a) In "LSW", click on "oxide1" with L.
(b) In the "Editing" window, click on the "Rectangle" box -
this is on
the left hand side, second from the bottom.
(c) On the blank grid, click on your first entry point with L, and
then
your second entry point. The oxide rectangle will appear.
(d) on the keyboard, press the "Esc" key to finish the command
(else it
will continue in rectangle mode)
II.4. Plotting.
(a) In "Design", hold L to "Plot", release on "Plot Cell View"
(b) In the "Plot" window:
in the "Plotter" box, release on "pizza",
in
the "Page Size" box, release on "8.5x11 inches"
(c) Click on OK with L
II.5. Saving Files
(a) In "Design", release on "Save As..." with L
(b) In the "Save" window:
click with L on the "Cell Name" box, and enter
your desired name
in place of the existing name which may be "scratch",
(c) Click on OK with L
II.6. Closing
(a) In "Window", release on "Close" with L
(b) In the "Save" window:
click with L on the "Cell Name" box, and enter
your desired name
in place of the existing name which may be scratch,
(c) Click on OK with L
(d) It would be best not to save changes to the original file
"scratch"
(e) In the "Library Browser" window, in "Commands", release L
on "Close
Browser"
(f) In the "layoutPlus" window, in "Open", release L
on "Quit..."
