Friday's Tutorial/ Lab 8

Downloading and Running Python

Install Python Version 3.2 from http://www.python.org/getit/ onto your laptop.

1. Under Download Python (second section on the page), click on Python 3.2.3

2. On this page, scroll down about half-way to the Download section.

3. Skip the zipped and compressed files - choose either the MSI Installer for Windows or the Mac OS-X Installer.

You will need to know your laptop's operating system (e.g., Linux, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Mac OS) and whether the laptop has a 32-bit or 64-bit processor. See Appendix A of the textbook for help. Note for Windows users: even if you have a 64 bit machine, download the 32 bit version of software (Windows x86 MSI Installer (3.2.3)), otherwise you will have difficulties installing libraries with the 64 bit version.

4. In the pop-up window, hit Save File

5. Double-click on the saved file to install it. Keep choosing "next".
