My research group meets once a week for a group meeting, where we discuss research topics. Sometimes we discuss some relevant paper in network security. Other times we will discuss current research within the group or grant writing. Each time we meet, one of the students or myself will be in charge of leading the meeting and speaking on the topic. If we are discussing a paper, this person will be assigned the task of reading the paper before the meeting and presenting it to the rest of the group. Everyone gets to choose which paper to read and how to present it, but we may restrict the topic to some important problem in network security area. If we are talking about research and it's your turn, you will need to prepare a short (30 mins) presentation of your current research. Then we will brainstorm about it, ask questions and help you resolve the problems you might have. If we are discussing grant proposals, we will simply brainstorm possible ideas. Group meetings last one hour and I would like all my students to attend whenever they can. If you are sometimes unable to attend, feel free to skip but let me know in advance. If you are running late, that's fine, we'll start without you. If you are presenting and cannot make it, let me know at least a day ahead. Here is the agenda from previous and future group meetings. |
