A few years ago cyber Intrusion Detection Systems were declared a "dead" technology by the Gardner Group--they were right at the time. A small group of researchers at ARL, sponsored by the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program, resurrected IDS by drastically revising the model. The results have already proven highly successful in detecting the most sophisticated cyber attacks against DoD computers and networks. This talk will discuss the architecture and provide data supporting the argument that IDS is still relevant, alive and well.
