Similarly, what do you hope to gain from the PEAK experience? Volunteer Opportunities & Questions 1. At present, PEAK seeks to arrange monthly outings on weekends for mentors and children to various sites around the New York/New Jersey area. If you are interested in participating in these outings, how many per year might you be available for? (Time Commitment: 8-10 hrs./1 day, 1x per month) Note: Each outing is generally preceded by a brief orientation or training session. When signing up for an outing, please keep in mind that you are expected to attend these meetings when they are held or arrange an appropriate make-up session. 2. Related to these outings, do you have relevant skills expertise that you might be willing to lend to other volunteers through skills development/training workshops? For example, first aid (regular or wilderness), hiking techniques, environmental educational tools (related to a specific planned site visit), or mentoring skills for working with inner-city youth of varying ages? Please cite below. 3. If you do not have experience working in the outdoors and/or working with youth, how comfortable are you with receiving limited training before participating in an outing? As a start-up organization, PEAK is continually developing its infrastructure and seeking to expand its reach where it is in the best interest of all members and participating youth. We encourage all interested volunteers to sign up for existing development projects or create their own. Current areas of need are listed below.
