Edward Lynn Lloyd
December 23, 1926 to October 6, 1991
My Dad taught high school math for 32 years at Franklin High
School. He also loved the game of golf, and at one point was
a 5 handicapper. Unlike most of us though he managed to always
look at the positive side, no matter his score.
He also served as the assistant golf coach for a number of years.
After my Dad passed away, a friend of his, Bob Herring, a fellow teacher
and the head golf coach at Franklin High School, wrote the following poem.
It Seems Like Only Yesterday ...
As a New Kid at Franklin
20 Years Ago When Ed and I Met
When His Pride in Statistics
Made My Job Easier As A Coach
When I Got So Mad Because
A Bad Shot Never Upset Him
When I Soon Discovered His
Integrity For The Sport He Loved
When He Told Me to Enjoy The Sky, The Birds, and
The Beauty Of The Day - Forget a Bad Round
He Taught Me So Much About The
True Purpose Of The Game --
Ed Will Be Sorely Missed, But
My Respect For His Values Will Remain
