Without them, there would be no human contact at all. I stood on the shore of the Great Salt Lake, dipped my finger in it, tasted it and said "It needs water." In Boston the other week I got into a cab and, because I'd heard about the great seafood to be had, I asked the cabbie "Where can I get scrod around here?" He laughed and said, "I've been asked that question a thousand times before, but never in the pluperfect subjunctive." No wonder the population of New York City keeps going up. There are so many toll booths leading out of the city, no one can afford to leave. It's easy to see why they drink so much tea in England. Have you ever tasted their coffee? When I'm in a new city, I like to wrap myself up in masking tape and walk around downtown just to hear people say "Who was that masked man?"
