Due 10/3
- Page 169, questions: 5, 11, 19, 21, 23
- Page 171, questions: 1, 3, 7, 10, 18 b, c, f, 19, 24 (assume that the clients upload rates are all the same and that the client download rates are all the same), 26, 28, (optional: 29 (not a very clear question. It should ask to show that the metric is the same as counting bits that match))
- Use telnet to send the bohacek@eecis.udel.edu a mail with your name in the body and from your favorite
president. (note, you must do this from an eecis linux machine such as stimpy.eecis.udel.edu.)
- Use telnet to download the eecis home page. Use HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/1.0. What
is the difference when the pages are downloaded?
- How many connections are established when downloading www.eecis.udel.edu from your browser. To determine this run wireshark and use your browser to download www.eecis.udel.edu. Print out the packet listing and indicate in the print out where a connection starts. (note, that you can print to pdf and turn in the pdf. From here, you can get adobe acrobat professional, which allows you to print to pdf.)
- Pick one or more instant messaging program beside skype. Use wireshark to determine whether the messages are encrypted. Defend your conclusion with packet traces.
