General Undergraduate Lab

The lab in Evans 132 is used by students of CPEG 222, and also as a general purpose computing lab.

Each Pentium 4 machine dual boots into either Windows XP or a custom version of Linux engineered for ECE students. There is an oscilloscope, multimeter, and function generator at each station for use with the "Nerd Boxes" from CPEG 222.

DSP Lab

Evans 134 houses the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Lab. This lab is for students in ELEG 212 and ELEG 410, both courses in digital signal processing.

Each computer boots into Windows XP, and is setup with speakers, and a DSP board for programming related to labs from class.

What is unique about the DSP lab is that it has a biometric reader in addition to the card-controlled access. Students can have their fingers scanned and registered, and will be granted access without having to carry their card.

Networking Lab

Located in Evans 149, there is an entire lab dedicated to Cisco networking hardware for CPEG467 and an 800 level business (BUEC) class.

Each station includes a Dell Windows XP machine and a Linux computer. One computer is connected to the outside Internet for research use. All others are connected via a wireless network to print out lab reports.

Each station has a switch, two routers, and a hardware firewall for use in laboratory assignments and experimentation.
